The DMP-BD45 employs the PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus. Developed in collaboration with Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory, this high image processing technology reproduces clear, vivid colors that are faithful to the original film. Panasonic's Blu-ray Disc players employ high precision 4:4:4 signal technology, which working in tandem with PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus processes each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the horizontal direction to compliment vertical direction processing. P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing for HD) is another technology that contributes to the superior picture quality of the Blu-ray players. P4HD processes more than 15 billion pixels per second and applies the optimal processing to every pixel. Panasonic's Blu-ray Disc players further utilize 16-level motion detection to categorize the image motion of each pixel into one of 16 levels; diagonal processing to detect diagonals and correct the pixels accordingly; 1080p up-conversion to up-convert content recorded in the 480i/p or 720p format to 1080p. This Blu-ray Disc player also provides 1080/24p output, reproducing cinema images from a Blu-ray Disc and DVD in their original 24p form with no need for conversion--enabling you to enjoy cinema images in the same format used in cinema with a 1080/24p-compatible TV.
Product Description With the DMP-BD45 from Panasonic, the Full HD 1080p video for which Blu-ray Disc is know is only the beginning. On the audio side of things, Dolby TrueHD, dts-HD Master Audio, and advanced Panasonic technologies serve up studio-quality multi-channel surround sound to your home audio system. Further, while HDMI output offers optimal single-cable, HD system connectivity, support for formats ranging from AVCHD to MP3 to JPEG allows for optimal versatility.

Fantastic quality for the money. March 27, 2010 BoldRuler75 (Green Mountain State) 41 out of 45 found this review helpful
This is my first Blu-Ray player. I wanted a new model (2010) but was not interested in the BD Live features. This deck has the legendary Panasonic image processor (the same as in the expensive, top of the line models) but at a very low price. Speed is not quite as fast as advertised but better than earlier models. A great deck for anyone who doesn't need BD-Live features.
Great Blu-Ray player ! June 17, 2010 Angus66 (Guntersville, AL) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
Like the first reviewer, this is my first Blu-Ray player. I wanted a quality, no-frills model and I don't need or want internet conectivity at this time. So far, this Blu-Ray player has worked beautifully. I don't know how fast (or slow) other Blu-ray players are, but the Panasonic seems just as speedy (or slow depending on your point of view) as my (current model) Sony DVD player. As long as this unit lasts and doesn't give me any trouble down the road, I'm very happy with the purchase.
Does what it should July 4, 2010 Josh (Minnesota USA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
The remote feels nice, and the player does what it is supposed to do. Playback of AVCHD on memory cards is a nice touch for anyone with a camera that records in that format. For a budget product, this does seem to perform well, and I haven't had any major issues with playback of any supported media. Thumbs up.
Panasonic Blu-ray Player August 22, 2010 Linda 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I went from a Panasonic DVD player which was stunning visual to this Panasonic Blu-ray which sharpened the stunning. The sound is crisp and clear, the picture ranging from poor quality to great quality original filming remains that way but with a high quality appearance. New Blu-ray viewing is stunning. Older good quality movies such as earliest Disney movies that are not Blu-ray are sharp with deeper colors and great sound. Movies that I had taped then transferred to DVD play beautifully, again depending on the original quality.
Panasonic DMP-BD45 August 27, 2010 Lanurva Knowles (Irvine, Ca) I Had no interest in a wi-fi blu-ray player.. & after doing extensive research & reading reviews, This is the one to get, It lives up to the spectacular reviews too.. easy to set up and use, open / close button on the top of the unit is a nice feature too (top right front to be specific, if you stack your units you'll be able to access)..& the Remote (never thought I'd write about a remote) the layout of the remote is perfect all the right buttons where they should be.. thank you Panasonic & Amazon (price & delivery).. great product.. best blu-ray / dvd player I've used and I've used a few of them. LG, Sony, Samsung, Denon, to name a few..
